Taiwan Tourism appoints rep for the Aussie market

THE Taiwan Tourism Bureau has appointed hospitality specialist Ganessan Suppiah to represent Taiwan in the Australian market. Suppiah boasts a lengthy career in the hotel sector, including 13 years with WorldHotels, most recently as Asia Pacific Regional Vice President, as well as roles with Marriott, Stamford and Hyatt.

Suppiah told travelBulletin that his GSA Hospitality business will launch a four-part strategy to promote Taiwan as an ideal destination for Australian travellers.

Highlighting Taiwan’s unique cultural and natural attractions is an important factor when it comes to enticing Australian visitors, Suppiah said, adding, “Taiwan boasts a rich history, diverse cuisine, stunning scenery, and a vibrant arts and music scene”.

He also revealed plans to partner with social media influencers and create engaging content on channels like Instagram and Facebook to “generate buzz”, in addition to working with travel agencies, meeting planners and airlines to offer competitive deals with the aim of encouraging more Aussies to visit Taiwan.

“Offering tailored packages that cater to the interest of demographics such as adventure seekers, foodies, or cultural enthusiasts can also help to attract a wider range of tourist,” he explained. “We will also pitch Taiwan as an exciting new incentive destination with all the diverse and world-class venues and visa-free access to a beautiful country in East Asia”.

Suppiah said participating in travel expos and events in Australia and providing visitors with immersive experiences, such as virtual reality tours or interactive cultural activities, are also important ways to inspire Aussies to plan their next holiday in Taiwan.
